Planning an autumn wedding? While preparation is no doubt in full swing, it's never too late to scope out next season's newest trends. This fall, look forward to a palette of rich, earthy colors showing up in everything from 'maids to marzipan. Leave the rest of summer behind, and absorb what's in store for us in eHitched's Fall Focus!
Starting with the most important (and most fun), fall's dresses are steering even further away from the ball gown look than last season; zoning in on a more form-fitting sheath or A-line cut, with waist cinching details. Bridal fashion also seems to coincide more than ever with Madison Avenue. Luxurious fabrics, colors, and shapes are all staking their claim on the season's hottest looks. For the bride, a slight wander from the white-white gown has landed in the cream/ivory swatches, creating a new warmth and compliment to all skin tones (lets face it—only a select few brides can pull off white-white without considerable time in the tanning bed). Also, there has been a departure from the ultra-trendy full-color gown. The focus for this time of year is simple chic with bold bursts of regal color. Bridesmaids' styles have moved on from the vibrant limes and corals to more luxurious colors such as Mocha, Ginger and Garnet. Matte silver shows up, often paired with the season's new black: Navy Blue. The shape remains the same in simple A-line or empire-waist floor-length gowns. Strapless necklines still rule in both bride's and bridesmaid's designs, however, if you are not a size 2 (most of us aren't) and aren't comfortable going strapless, something off of the shoulder balances a fitted waist, and is just as elegant.
When it comes to choosing your invitations, decor and favors, strive to incorporate the most important accessories, the bride and groom! No department store can tell you how to make the day your own. Personalization is key to creating a unique and memorable day for you and all of your guests, no matter the time of year. Include special details such as where the two of you met, or a special family tradition. For example, if the two of you met at a football game, have invitations printed resembling football tickets, and pass out "player bios" accompanying your programs at the ceremony. At the reception, bountiful cornucopias of orange ranunculus and peruvian lilies surrounded by tea light candles nestled in wayward branches and berries on every table might set the mood. A deluxe spread of pies and pumpkin bread along with apple cider situated beside a grand four tiered Chocolate butter cream confection adorned with gilded fondant acorns and berries seems divine; the possibilities are endless! Have fun, and when in doubt, turn to your childhood memories of fall for inspiration. Nevertheless, (Emily Post, please forgive me) there is no right or wrong way to do anything!
