Your own wedding web pages can be a very useful tool during your wedding planning process. True, it won't actually plan your wedding for you, but it will provide a lot of relevant information to guests of your wedding. You can include ceremony and reception information, registry information, and any other extra information you would like guests to be able to see. Two of the best things about your own wedding web page are, one it is free, and two you can change it at anytime. This way if you make mistake, things change, or you just want your web page to look different all of the time, you can come right back to the same place and change things all over again. Below I will go through the complete process of creating your own wedding web page.
Account Alias Selection
Your first task when creating a web page is selecting your account alias. If you have already selected your account alias, you will not be prompted to select an alias. Once you have determined your account alias, type it into the text box and click the submit button. Click here if you are wanting more information on what an account alias is.
Layout Selection
Selecting your page layout will allow you to customize the look and feel of your web page to reflect your personal preferences and personality. Select from our pre-made layouts and click the save button at the bottom of the screen.
Color Selection
Selecting the colors is also another way to customize your web page to reflect yourself. eHitched has also created set colors to choose from for your color schemes. Once you have selected the color of your choice, click the save button at the bottom of the screen.
Wedding Party
Adding your wedding party will allow you to show exactly who is going to be in your wedding on your wedding web page. Add a wedding party member one by one, by first typing their names in the fields provided, selecting their role, and clicking the add button. If you don't have all or any of your wedding party selected, you can leave this part blank. Once you have finished adding your wedding party, click the save button at the bottom of the screen.
Adding Main Content
Adding content can be one the main parts of your web page. Add content to allow visitors to see all of the information regarding your wedding. Type all of the information you want to add into the text areas provided and click the save button at the bottom of the screen. If you don't know exactly all of your information yet, or you make a mistake in your information, all parts of your wedding web page can be updated at anytime.
Uploading a Picture
Once you finished the above steps your web page is almost complete, but many brides and grooms like to add a photo to their web page. A picture is not required, but it I do recommend it. Many guests of your wedding that visit your web page will enjoy a photo of you and your fiancee for many different reasons. Often guests will have not seen you for a long time and an updated photo will be one of the most appreciated and loved parts of your site. If you want to add a photo, browse your computer to find your photo and click the save button at the bottom of the screen.
Web Page Completed
Congratulations, your own wedding web page has now been created. Now how do you see and share your wedding web page with others? Easy, there are three ways that guests can come and visit your web page. One, have guests visit eHitched.com and search by you or your fiancee's last name and first initial in our wedding web page search located at the bottom of the home page. Two, have guests go to the page http:///www.ehitched.com/browse_web_pages.html, and locate your wedding web page that way. The final way is just give them the URL to your web page. Your web page will be located at http://www.ehitched.com/wedding_web_pages/ALIAS.htm, where ALIAS will be replaced with the account alias you selected when you started creating your web page. Send that URL to your guests to allow them to go directly to your wedding web page.
Password Protection
Some of our members are concerned with having their information visible by any other visitor to eHitched.com. That is why we allow you to password protect your wedding web page if you want to. Once your web page has been created, go to the My Web Page section of your eHitched account and locate the option Password Protect. Fill in the text field with your desired password and click the update button at the bottom of the screen. Remember, once your web page is password protected make sure to share your password with all of the guests that you want to be able to see your wedding web page.
Things I Suggest You Include On Your Wedding Web Page>
One of the first things I suggest you include on your wedding web page is where you and your fiancee are registered at. Some couples don't choose to register, but if they do I suggest you include that in your extra information section of your web page. This way guests can view where you are registered before the wedding a purchase your wedding gift that you have selected as an item you and your fiancee need.
Another thing I suggest you add to your web page is your proposal story. For a bride, this can often be one of the most spectacular moments in their lives. Why not share it with guests that will be attending your wedding.
Although there is a lot more information that can be provided on your web page, the last one I want to suggest is Reception information. Not just any reception information, but exactly what guests should expect at the reception. Include what food will be served, dance information, and appropriate attire for the reception. This way guests will know whether or not to eat before and exactly what to wear to your reception.
